INTRODUCTION:

Transvestites, transexuals, drag queens and androgynes: exotic, nocturnal creatures living their lives in the bars and nightclubs of London. Or such is the myth. Most of us have an idea of what the word "transgendered" means, but do we really know what being transgendered is all about? 		    Now in Transgender Underground, writer and artist Claudia Andrei, fascinated by gender-bending, looks behind the media myth and exposes the real lives, opinions, and sexual orientation of more than a dozen members of the "third sex".
